Because I specialize in elopements & micro-weddings, I am constantly asked about my favorite smaller venues. I have had the chance to work at a ton of venues & these locations are some my personal favorites from an overall experience standpoint. There are plenty of venues that may have gorgeous views or a pretty reception venue, but these suggestions are great for a simple, care free micro-wedding! These venues may not be the best for elopements with only a bride & groom, but they are great for those of you who are looking to share your vows with a small group. Plus, these are all venues with great photo locations / stunning backdrops!

1. Willow Creek Falls Events

Willow Creek Falls Events is one of my all-time favorite venues. Honestly, if I were to get married in the Asheville area, this would be my choice! This venue is appropriate for intimate weddings and elopements as it is on the smaller side. The property feels absolutely magical filled with running streams, twinkle lights & wooded paths (even a trail called the “love trail”). It is an absolute dream for anyone looking to celebrate with those closest to them in a fairy-tale-like location!

This location is great if you are looking to get ready before your ceremony & party after it on location. It has everything you need for a full day with those closest to you.

2. Brown Mountain Beach Resort

Brown Mountain Beach Resort is another DREAM location. This venue also has accommodations on the property & various stunning scenery. This location offers a river beach front, run down buildings (which are killer in photos), wooded options, gardens & beautiful buildings. This venue is appropriate for small or larger weddings & can accommodate many of your friends & family in the process! I have seen 2 intimate weddings performed at this venue & they have been nothing short of a dream.

3. The Barn at Honey Suckle Hill

The Barn at Honey Suckle Hill is incredibly charming. It is more of a barn feel for those of you who love that vibe. This venue has small getting ready accommodations & plenty of room for an intimate ceremony & celebration. The scenery consists of a lake, barn & fields, which isn’t as robust as some of the above options, but it is an absolutely adorable location worth checking out.

4. Palmer Chapel in Smokey Mountain National Park

If you want to simplify down to something smaller then a traditional venue, consider something like Palmer Chapel in the Smokey Mountain National Park to gather with those closest to you & say your vows. The fun thing about this location is that the surroundings are stunning & you are able to do whatever you want before / after your ceremony! This is the perfect location to get ready at a local cabin & then have dinner at whatever restaurant you choose!

5. Asheville or Charlotte Breweries

As far as venues go, breweries are some of the best options for small gatherings! I mean think about it – pub food, beer & your closest friends & family? That’s pretty sick… This listing is more broad than just a specific venue, but I would always be happy to give anyone suggestions for specific breweries upon interest.

For many smaller events, couples will choose to run off into nature and celebrate at a restaurant or bar afterwards! Of course, that is just as great of an option, but I wanted to share some venues out there that can host a small group for those of you looking to celebrate with those closest to you!

These venues are just a handful of the options out there, but they are some of my personal favorites! If you’d like more recommendations for engagement session / elopement locations or more venues, I have guides available for all of my clients that outline more amazing options!

I believe photography is much more than creating beautiful images – it’s about the connection that you share as a couple and the human connection that we also share that will aid in capturing images that are representative of you and your unique love.

My goal is always to show a unique perspective on what makes this time in your life so beautiful. Lets learn more about each other and share in each other’s lives. Lets laugh with the good and capture the hard times for what they are. Lets set our sight on the beauty of what is happening in the present, so years down the road you can relive the joy and love of this season through images that represent you well.
